Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam has said that there is no specific threat of attacks at National Eidgah.

He made the remarks while visiting the National Eidgah, the main congregation point of Eid-ul-Fitr, to oversee security measures on Sunday.

“There is no specific threat of terror attacks. But we have taken all security measures. The entire area of Jatiya Eidgah, inside and outside, will be monitored by closed-circuit (CC) cameras. DMP control room will control cameras continuously,” he said.

He said devotees are only allowed to bring Janamaz (prayer mat) and umbrella at Jatiya Eidgah on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Shafiqul Islam further said that security arrangements would be in place at all the major places where Eid Jamaat would be held in Dhaka city.
